Fins Up!

Not only are my husband and I avid travelers, we also are HUGE Jimmy Buffett fans. Complete and utter Parrotheads. We are addicted to the Margaritaville tour date website, we own XM radio merely to listen to all the Buffett concerts we are unable to go to and we even pay the state of Arizona motor vehicle department $50 dollars a year to own custom plates with a verse of our favorite song...see the tackiness below...

Yes, I am FIN2RT and naturally, my husband would be....

It's bad...but we have so much fun with it! We have had some fun adventures during our madness. A few years ago we went to our annual Buffett concert in Las Vegas (best concert location ever!) came home the following evening to listen to the remaining few concerts from his Bama Breeze tour, live from Tampa, Florida on XM. When he was exiting, he announced to the crowd that he would be seeing everyone tomorrow night for his last show of this tour. My husband and I looked at one another with the same thought.....Let's go! So, within ten minutes we had 15th row front and center seats purchased, two tickets on Southwest direct to Tampa, hotel and a rental car. The next night we were decked our in grass skirts, parrot and shark hats, hula shirts walking though the gates to see the one and only Jimmy Buffett. We thought life could NOT get any better than this.....but....it did. One gentleman, who we still don't know who, came up to us and said, "Please put these on and follow me." Normally this would not seem like a smart thing, to follow a complete stranger behind a gate into God knows where....but when you've had too many Landsharks as it is, you have a parrot on your head and everyone else seems to be doing far worse and crazier things around you, you follow right along like sheep. Well, behind that gate was backstage and all of the the Coral Reefer Band! Yes, we had just passed the gates of heaven. We were dying. Mac McAnaly and Michael Utley.

So, needless to say, we are smitten Parrotheads. We go to every concert we can, we visit Key West each year to "Head Down to Captain Tony's" visit Faustos for chocolate milk and even sit along Mallory Square at sunset wondering where exactly it was that Jimmy Buffett wrote "Tin Cup Chalice." People call us crazy, but what a fun and crazy life it is. Not many people understand his following but I find myself looking over at my husband at every concert, grass skirt on, shark on his head, fins flying and I think...."The Stories We Could Tell..." and boy, do we have many!
